Who Should Consider a Kidney Transplant?
A kidney transplant is recommended for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) — when both kidneys have permanently lost the ability to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood. It is the most effective long-term treatment for kidney failure, offering far better outcomes than lifelong dialysis.
You may be a suitable candidate if you meet the following criteria:
- diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD)
- caused by chronic kidney disease
- diabetic nephropathy
- hypertensive kidney disease
- glomerulonephritis
- polycystic kidney disease
- other irreversible kidney conditions.
- on dialysis (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) and wish to achieve a better quality of life free from dialysis dependency.
🫂 About Living-Related Kidney Donation
A healthy family member — parent, sibling, spouse, or adult child — can donate one of their two kidneys. The human body functions normally with a single kidney, and the donor’s remaining kidney compensates fully over time. Our program includes comprehensive donor screening, ethical and legal documentation, and a dedicated donor safety protocol to ensure the donor’s complete wellbeing and long-term health
Clinical Outcomes
Why a Kidney Transplant Can Change Your Life
For patients living with end-stage renal disease, a successful kidney transplant is life-changing. Dialysis keeps patients alive but severely limits daily life — a transplant restores true independence, health, and long-term survival prospects significantly beyond what any dialysis program can offer.
Restoration of Vital Functions
The transplanted kidney filters waste products and excess fluid from the blood, balances electrolytes, regulates blood pressure, and produces essential hormones — restoring critical functions lost to kidney failure.
Increased Energy & Strength
Patients consistently report dramatic improvements in fatigue, jaundice, and overall physical endurance — often within weeks of recovery from surgery.
Freedom from Dangerous Complications
Transplantation significantly reduces the risk of dangerous fluid retention, electrolyte imbalances, cardiovascular complications, and other life-threatening consequences of end-stage renal disease.
Improved Life Expectancy
A successfully transplanted kidney provides many additional years — even decades — of independent, healthy life, with proper immunosuppression and regular follow-up care.
Return to Normal Activities
Most transplant recipients return to work, travel, and enjoy everyday family life — freed from the rigid schedule and physical burden of dialysis dependency.
Psychological Wellbeing
The relief from chronic illness, combined with renewed physical capacity, leads to measurable improvements in mental health, confidence, and overall quality of life.

Comprehensive medical, surgical, and psychological assessments to determine transplant readiness. This includes blood tests, imaging (MRI/CT), cardiopulmonary evaluation, nutritional assessment, and psychological screening — ensuring both patient and potential donor are thoroughly prepared.
Living-Related Donor Program
Expert guidance for family donors through every step — medical screening, ethical documentation, legal compliance, and a dedicated donor safety protocol managed by a separate surgical and medical team to ensure the donor's full protection and wellbeing.

- ❓ Quick FAQs
How long does recovery take?
Most patients are discharged within 1–2 weeks and return to light activity within 4–6 weeks. Full recovery and stable kidney function is typically achieved within 3–6 months.
Can a family member donate one kidney?
Yes. A healthy parent, sibling, spouse, or adult child can donate one kidney. The body functions completely normally with one kidney, and the donor's health is not compromised.
What matching tests are required?
Blood group (ABO) compatibility, HLA tissue typing, and a crossmatch test are all required. Our transplant team conducts all of these during the pre-transplant workup.
Is kidney transplant done for children?
Yes. Our program covers both adult and paediatric kidney transplantation, with age-appropriate surgical techniques, dosing, and care protocols.
