Services Offered – Surgical ICU (SICU)

Postoperative Monitoring for High-Risk Surgeries

• Continuous ICU-level care following major surgeries (abdominal, oncological, vascular, neurosurgical, orthopedic, urologic)
• Monitoring during the critical first 48–72 hours post-op
• Management of surgical drains, wound care, and fluid resuscitation
• Close observation for post-anesthesia complications and surgical shock

Hemodynamic Support & Vasopressor Infusion

• Real-time cardiac monitoring and BP control using telemetry
• Use of vasopressors and inotropes for managing hypotension and low cardiac output states
• CVP (central venous pressure) and invasive BP monitoring for unstable patients
• Bedside ultrasonography for cardiac function evaluation

Neuro-Monitoring for Neurosurgical Patients

• GCS charting and neurovital assessment for post-craniotomy or spine surgery patients
• Anti-edema management, seizure control, and monitoring of intracranial pressure
• 24/7 availability of neurosurgery, neurophysician, and anesthesia teams

Ventilator & Advanced Airway Management

• Mechanical ventilation for post-anesthesia recovery or respiratory failure
• Protocol-based weaning and extubation process
• Endotracheal intubation, tracheostomy care, suctioning, and oxygen therapy
• High-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP support if needed

24/7 Real-Time Monitoring & Diagnostics

• ECG telemetry, SPO2, blood pressure, temperature, urine output monitoring
• Hourly charting of vitals, I/O balance, and pain/sedation scales (e.g. RASS, CPOT)
• Daily labs: CBC, CRP, PT/INR, blood glucose, electrolytes, renal & liver profile
• Portable chest X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasound when indicated

Infection Surveillance & Post-Surgical Sepsis Management

• Daily wound inspection and dressing changes under sterile protocols
• Cultures (blood, urine, wound) and sensitivity-guided antibiotic therapy
• Strict ICU infection control measures: hand hygiene, PPE, sterile line care
• Use of Sepsis Bundles with lactate monitoring and early IV fluid resuscitation

Emergency Reintubation, Re-exploration & Code Blue

• Trained response team for cardiac/respiratory arrests and sudden deterioration
• Readiness for emergency re-exploration (e.g. for internal bleeding or dehiscence)
• Availability of surgical, anesthesia, and critical care backup within minutes
• Bedside defibrillators, crash carts, and airway kits available round-the-clock

Early Mobilization & Physiotherapy

• In-ICU mobilization program to reduce ICU-acquired weakness
• Chest physiotherapy to prevent atelectasis and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)
• Joint range-of-motion exercises and DVT prophylaxis
