Surgery

Surgery  is undoubtedly the most important faculty of medical practice. At Advanced international hospital we are about ensuring that your entire surgical experience is a comfortable and efficient one with the best post operative care and follow up.

When it comes to having surgery, you want the best doctors, the latest technologies, and a compassionate staff who will personally make sure all your questions and concerns are addressed. our certified surgeons are skilled in minimally invasive techniques to provide a full range of surgical services, including laparoscopic abdominal surgery, bariatric surgery, and new approaches to treat hernias. From diagnosis through follow-up, we coordinate our services with doctors in other specialties as well as your primary care physician to ensure everyone is working together to provide you with the best possible care. Our goal is to not only treat your condition, but to minimize pain and scarring, reduce recovery time, and get you back to your normal daily life as quickly as possible.
In addition to caring for patients, our surgeons are committed to advancing the field of general surgery by researching new procedures and technologies,
Through this combination of research advances and personalized attention, the general surgery staff at our health System is committed to providing each of our patients with the finest possible care.
In the past, surgery was always thought to be a major undertaking. Most procedures were followed by days in the hospital, followed by weeks of recuperation at home. Luckily today, minimally invasive procedures (also called endoscopic procedures) offer surgical options that are much more convenient—and just as effective. You can usually go home the same or next day after a minimally invasive procedure. With minimally invasive techniques, incisions are smaller and there’s decreased blood loss, lower risk of infection, reduced scarring, less pain, and often a decreased need for pain medication, than with traditional open surgery. These benefits translate into a shorter recovery time and a quicker return to normal life.
Advances in video imaging and endoscopic techniques have brought us robotic surgery. This approach allows our surgeons to operate from a console with master controllers that maneuver robotic arms. We use high-definition 3D images to visualize the surgical space, allowing our surgeons to gain greater visibility than with traditional surgery.
we have extensive experience with both of these types of stable, less invasive approaches.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

we use the most advanced equipment for minimally invasive procedures, including  laser treatments. We perform a variety of special minimally invasive surgeries, including the following:
Arterial embolization sends solid particles or a special liquid through the renal artery to block the flow of blood into the tumor, starving it of oxygen and causing it to shrink or die.
Bilateral axilla-breast approach (BABA) uses a robotic approach to treat larger thyroid glands and select cases of thyroid cancer with minimal scarring.
Flap breast reconstruction uses robotics to separate and rotate forward the latissimus muscle to create a new breast mound on the chest wall.
Heller myotomy treats achalasia, a disorder of the esophagus.
Laparoscopic colectomy removes the colon.
Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy removes the pancreas.
Laparoscopic gastrectomy removes the stomach.
Laparoscopic hepatectomy removes all or part of the liver.
Laparoscopic lymph node biopsy enables us to diagnose a lymphoma
Laparoscopic small bowel resection removes the small bowel
Laparoscopic total proctocolectomy with ileoanal pull-through removes the colon and creates a temporary ileostomy stoma
Laparoscopic transhiatal esophagectomy removes the esophagus.
Minimally invasive esophagectomy removes the esophagus.
Paraesophageal hernia repair repairs hernias.
Transoral Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TOETVA) helps treat benign thyroid disorders without scarring.
Transurethral resection of a bladder tumor (TURBT) allows us to remove the bladder.
Tran axillary endoscopic thyroid surgery uses only one incision to perform a partial thyroidectomy for benign thyroid diseases or small thyroid cancers.
In addition, we use minimally invasive procedures to address a variety of conditions, including:
  • Bariatric concerns
  • Benign and cancerous colorectal conditions
  • Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Complete (radical) or partial removal of the kidney
  • Compression fractures
  • Degenerative/arthritic disc disease and back pain
  • Diaphragmatic hernia
  • Gastrointestinal tract conditions
  • Kidney stones
  • Pleural tumors
  • Removal of tumors of the larynx, pharynx, thyroid, parathyroid and skull base, while preserving voice and swallowing capabilities
  • Robotic Surgery
Bilateral axilla-breast approach robotic thyroid surgery (BABA) lets us remove large benign thyroid disorders and advanced thyroid cancers.
F.A.S.T. robotic partial nephrectomy helps us remove a kidney tumor and reconstruct the kidney.
Partial nephrectomy is a treatment for renal cell carcinoma.
Robotic Hernia Surgery
Robotic cystectomy and urinary diversion treats bladder cancer without harming the uterus and vagina.
Robotic pyeloplasty treats ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction.
Breast reconstruction rebuilds a breast after a mastectomy.

We also use robotic surgery to address the following conditions:

  • Achalasia
  • Adrenal gland conditions
  • Benign and cancerous colorectal conditions
  • Cancers, low-grade tumors, and benign disorders
  • Esophagus conditions
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Gynecologic conditions
  • Hyperhidrosis s reversal
  • Kidney conditions
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Oral and throat (head and neck) cancers
  • Sleep apnea
  • Thoracic conditions (esophageal and lung)
  • Urological disease (adrenal, bladder, kidney and prostate)

Types of Surgery We Offer

We offer several types of bariatric surgery including:

Gastric sleeve
Gastric bypass (traditional or laparoscopic)
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy
Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding
Other bariatric surgery options—gastric band, duodenal switch, endoscopic techniques, and revisions
Once you are approved as a candidate, you and your surgeon will discuss the best option for you based on your lifestyle, weight goals, and current health.
How Surgery Works
Bariatric surgery makes it easier for you to feel fuller with less food. You and your surgeon will decide the best form of bariatric surgery for you. While each procedure limits the amount of food you can eat, and how much food your body can digest in its own unique way, all forms of bariatric surgery succeed based on these metabolic principles:
Restriction—making the stomach smaller restricts how much you eat and makes you feel full more quickly
Hormonal effect—altering how the body produces hormones, particularly ones made by the gastrointestinal tract, reduces the feeling of hunger and effects metabolism, helping improve or eliminate diabetes and high blood pressure
Decreased absorption—in some procedures, such as a duodenal switch, the procedure helps limit the amount of food that can enter your stomach and small intestine to decrease the number of calories your body absorbs
Conditions We Treat
Bariatric surgery can help prevent, slow the progression of, or even reverse certain obesity-related conditions, such as:
Type 2 diabetes—evidence shows that bariatric surgery helps control blood sugar and can lead to complete remission of this disease t
Obstructive sleep apnea—a problem in which breathing pauses during sleep because of narrowed or blocked airways.
Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)—condition in which the stomach contents leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach) causing heartburn and other uncomfortable symptoms.
Degenerative joint disease—also called osteoarthritis is a condition that develops from wear and tear on the body that causes stiffness in the joints.
Coronary artery disease (CAD)—also called heart disease, is a condition in which fatty deposits, called plaque, build up in the heart’s arteries which restricts blood and oxygen flow to the heart muscle.
Chronic back pain—constant and persistent pain in the back that affects your quality of life.
Hypertension—high blood pressure that may have no symptoms but can cause risk of heart disease and stroke.
Fatty liver disease—caused by obesity and can lead to serious liver damage.
We use the latest laparoscopic approaches for most operations, reducing your amount of postoperative pain and length of hospitalization. Our program offers traditional, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to bariatric surgery. Your surgeon will choose the correct approach based on your individual weight-loss needs and goals.
Multidisciplinary approach
Our bariatric surgeons work closely with other service providers to put you on a path to health and weigh-loss success. , you will receive nutritional counseling before and after surgery. We ensure that you are ready for surgery by consulting with psychiatrists and nutritionists, and we provide you with pre-operative patient education.
If you have diabetes, your surgeon may also consult with an endocrinologist to discuss how surgery may improve your metabolism. If you have high blood pressure (hypertension), we collaborate closely with a medical internist. We may also discuss your case with a gastroenterologist. Our patients appreciate this collaborative, team approach, which ensures a holistic approach to their health care.
